You've heard it before: organic food is a luxury, only for those who can afford it. What about low income families? Single mothers?

The Vancouver-based urban farming social enterprise Sole Food Street Farms aims to tackle this challenge by proposing a pay-what-you-can organic veggie stand to be located on one of their urban farms. Their goal is to disrupt the inherent irony of the food insecure producing food for the rest of us. The pay-what-you-can model also invites people to assess their relationship to food, attaching value to healthy food relative to income scale. It may be the first project that proposes accessible, affordable distribution channels of organic, urban-grown agriculture of its kind.

Sole Food's dream to open this pay-what-you-can veggie stand is contigent upon them raising enough funds to do so. They are currently running a crowdfunding campaign in hopes of raising this money.
