I've been coming to this farmer's market for years, and now I go every week in an effort to sustain an organic, non-gmo diet.

The vendors are always friendly and helpful and have a good selection of fresh foods. The best deals are the bags of root vegetables for only $4.00! And one of the egg vendors has eggs for $5.00. The milk is also a great deal when you return your bottle weekly.

The cheeses are delicious! We usually get 1/2 lb (two different kinds!) and it lasts all week because it is so flavorful that you don't need to eat a lot to feel satisfied. Meat eaters will find chicken, ground turkey, sausages, bacon, lamb, duck, and many cuts of beef and pork. Vegetables vary by season (of course!) and there are also fresh herbs and flowers for those who maintain their own small gardens in Brooklyn. During fall and winter expect to see a lot of apples, pears, potatoes, and other root vegetables, with some occasional spinach. With summer will come tomatoes, squashes, and abundant greens.

Don't forget to use the other services provided such as composting, vegan composting, and fabric recycling.

Other goodies: wine, beer, honey, soaps, lavender, breads and grains, specialty eggs, apple cider
