Registered dietitian at Eaton Rapids Medical Center Leslie Neubecker-Czubko became the driving force behind the market when she saw a need to promote healthier eating habits among hospital employees and the community while supporting local merchants.
"The idea is that the community, hospital employees, visitors and patients can purchase fresh, nutritious produce from the market and take it home for dinner," says Neubecker-Czubko. "We want our residents to support our local economy and their health by buying fresh fruits and vegetables at the market. In addition, ERMC's dietary department is using some of the locally-grown food in dishes served at the hospital."
The Market accepts SNAP EBT (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Electronic Benefit Transfer) Bridge Cards and Project Fresh Coupons.
