The mission of the Athens, Tx Farmers Market is to provide children and adults in Athens and surrounding areas with locally-grown foods and farm products as well as locally handmade items. This will be accomplished by improving access to local, healthy, affordable food through a direct farm-to-consumer marketing venue that serves the diverse populations of our community. Other goals that the ATxFM strives to achieve are increased education and support of local area agriculture and artisans. The Athens, Tx Farmers Market believes that small, local farms and businesses are essential to the local economy, and is committed to making economic and educational connections between Athens area residents and its local farmers and artisans.
The Athens Farmers Market runs from 8a-12p each Saturday May- October. It will continue November- April on each First Monday Saturday. Other events can be found listed on our website or fb page. Thanks!!

Eat Seasonal.
Each week's menu is utterly amazing thanks to the Farmers Market! I have prepared and enjoyed many things I had never seen or tasted before and those of which I had put myself under the impression that I simply did not like... Kale, I'm sorry... you are wonderful. If the fresh locally grown veggies weren't enough, there's the farmers that grow it. They are all so positive and truly happy growing such amazing produce. Even more, they're proud to be able to enrich the community each week as well. Knowing that other areas of the community benefit each week from the Farmers Market is uplifting as well. Being able to support the local Volunteer Fire Department is a great way to be able to give back to the community as well. In addition to the farmers, there's another aspect of artisans added to this market. From handcrafted wooden cutting boards, breads, cheeses, jewelry, girls tutu's & bows, granola, to a variety of Texas inspired crafts are also available each week. All around, it's a great place to be on a Saturday morning with the family, a friend, or a place for new comers and visitors to meet an uplifting community of vendors at the Athens Farmers Market.
