Let me start by saying that I don't like mushrooms. Or, I should say, I didn't think that I did.
I've walked past the Dragon Mushroom stand at the Roseville Framer's Market about 20 times and never gave it a second glance. Well, on Feb 14, as I walked by, the person working there smiled at me and said that she was running a Valentines special- buy 2 get 1 free (or something like that). My wife likes mushrooms, and I was cooking up some steaks for dinner so I thought, why not?
I don't remember the name of the mushrooms I bought. They were really tiny with white stems and light brown cap. I sauteed them in oil with some shallots, added a bit of beef stock and white wine, and then, at the end, finished with a little bit of half-and-half. Served them over the top the steaks.
So, long story short, I loved mushrooms. I ate almost all of them.
